Am Palmsonntag werden die selbstgebastelten "Palmen", "Palmstangen", Palmstöcke" oder "Palmbuschen" in der Kirche geweiht und in einer Prozession von der männlichen Jugend getragen. In der Kirche wird am Palmsonntag an den Einzug Jesus in Jerusalem erinnert, bei dem ihn der Legende nach das Volk wie einen König mit Palmen begrüßte.
