"In April of 1964 the first grave was discovered in Klepsau (then Buchen-dsitrict), in the municipal parcel of “Berglein”. Graves 2 and 3 were excavated in May 1964. In the course of four fieldwork campaigns between 1965 and 1967, as well as in 1976, 63 out of 66 graves were excavated and documented. This burial of a 4 year old boy was found in 1966 and probably dates to the middle of the 6th century AD. At a depth of 1 m the burial pit was 2 m long and 1.10 m wide. The bottom of the pit lay at a depth of 1.5 m. The wooden covering slab of the burial chamber had probably rested on a ledge detected 40 cm above the bottom of the pit. A preserved lancehead (Kle 13/1) indicates that a lance had been placed on the burial chamber. "@en
